"ANNIE" COMING TO THE WALK OF FAME IN MIAMI


COLUMBIA PICTURES' FEATURE + STAR BOBBY CANNAVALE TO BE HONORED WITH STARS ON THE OFFICIAL MIAMI WALK OF FAME!


Ceremony to be held on December 9, 2014 will include appearances by additional cast members including Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhane Wallis & Director Will Gluck


Miami, FL (December 3, 2014) – On Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Bayside Marketplace, 401 Biscayne Blvd., The Official Miami Walk of Fame, Inc. will honor actor Bobby Cannavale and the ANNIE film with Stars designed by Romero Britto. The Official Miami Walk of Fame, a Florida Not-for-Profit Corporation dedicated to supporting the arts in Miami and Bayside Marketplace, receives support from the Greater Miami Host Committee, the City of Miami, Miami Downtown Development Authority, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, Creative Terrazzo Systems, Inc., Diamonette, Miamigo and Reflections Productions.

The star-studded public ceremony will take place with the induction of the highly anticipated contemporary version of the Broadway classic "ANNIE," as well as the induction of one of its stars – Bobby Cannavale. In addition to Bobby Cannavale, ANNIE stars Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx, Quvenzhane Wallis and Rose Byrne will be in attendance. Also, City of Miami Mayor, Tomas Regalado, will present Director Will Gluck an official Proclamation declaring Tuesday, December 9, 2014 ANNIE day in the City of Miami. Each inductee will receive a small duplicate of the star and recognition from the Florida Film Commission for contributions to the industry in Miami and the State of Florida.

Working to Build a Brighter Future For Our Kids

As part of the celebration, the ceremony will also help kick-off a month of gift-giving in Miami partnered with Our Kids of Miami-Dade/Monroe, Inc., South Florida's leading foster care and adoption agency. Through this partnership, the City of Miami hopes to raise awareness of the 4200 children in Miami Dade and Monroe who are currently in need of a loving foster family this holiday season. During the month of December, the City of Miami encourages members of the community to donate a NEW and UNWRAPPED gift to a foster child in need. Our Kids currently oversees the care and safety of 4200 children in Miami-Dade and Monroe through foster care and adoption services. Highly regarded by the child welfare industry as one of the most innovative agencies in the country, Our Kids is led by a group of community leaders who ensure that children in foster care in Miami Dade and the Keys receive the best care through quality services and increased accountability. The triumph of their efforts is made possible by the community members who volunteer, donate, foster and adopt to ensure that the children of Miami Dade and the Keys are able to achieve success during a difficult time.

Live Performances and Entertainment

In an effort to showcase award-winning inner city public school music education, that enlightens and inspires inner city youth to become involved in music, and promotes the need for funding to obtain instruments, this free, family-friendly public ceremony will celebrate children in music. There will be live performances from Miami Edison Sr. High School’s award-winning marching band. Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear the Miami Children’s Chorus perform two memorable ANNIE songs live, including “Tomorrow,” and “It’s the Hard Knock Life.”

Worldwide, Miami is one of the largest production and distribution centers for the film, television, commercial advertising, still photo, music and new media industries. The industry's combined economic impact in the local economy is about two billion dollars annually, with $100 to $150 million coming from more than 1,000 filming location shoots each year. There are approximately 3,000 local companies working in film and entertainment.

The Official Miami Walk of Fame at Bayside Marketplace is a “must-see” tourist destination fashioned after the Hollywood Walk of Fame sidewalk established in 1960. It promotes arts and entertainment in greater Miami through development, promotion, and philanthropy. The Official Miami Walk of Fame also supports other local initiatives such as “The Magic City” a branding of The City of Miami, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, and the Miami Downtown Development Authority.

The official star is designed by Romero Britto, Brazilian Neo-pop artist, painter and sculptor, who has lived in Miami, Florida since 1989 and has completed works for Movado, Disney, Enrico Coveri, Pepsi, the United Nations, BMW and Royal Caribbean Cruises. The stars will be embedded in the sidewalk flagpole entrance of Bayside Marketplace. Each star is hand-crafted by Creative Terrazzo Systems, Inc. of Miami, FL, the premier Terrazzo flooring company in the region; fabricators of the beautiful new floors at the Miami International Airport.
